Our History
As noted in our review of cremation costs, Caring Cremation Services was founded by Robert A. Scott, a second generation funeral director, who clearly saw that families in Toledo and the surrounding communities of Perrysburg, Rossford, and Maumee were looking for affordable–yet high quality–cremation services. Mr. Scott is the driving force and inspiration of Caring Cremation Services, and his personal history and commitment defines this organization.
He is the son of Charles M. Scott, Senior, whose commitment to providing professional, compassionate funeral-related care to the families of this region extends decades.
After leaving military service, Mr. Scott pursued his formal funeral service education at the Pittsburg Institute of Mortuary Science. He graduated in 1990, and began his career in funeral service as a licensed funeral director and embalmer–working alongside his father and brother–at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home.
Community-Oriented
Mr. Scott has deep roots in the Toledo community. His interest in social and civic organizations is broad, and his memberships include participation in the Triad Masonic Lodge #708 F. & A.M., which is now Barton Smith Masonic Lodge # 613 F & A.M.
He has served as the Past Master, Past High Priest, Past Illustrious Master, and Past Commander of Toledo Commandery # 7 K.T., Fort Meigs Chapter, Toledo Council # 33 R & S.M., Night York Cross of Honor, Grand Representative of Ohio to the Country of Greece, Royal Order of Scotland, and York Rite College.
Professional and Committed
Today, he brings over 25 years of experience to the growing cremation conversation. "Families today are looking for meaningful, yet affordable funeral services–and Caring Cremation Services provides them with both," Scott says. "I believe it is my honor to serve families in the ways they wish to be served; I bring the funeral arrangement conversation to them, at their convenience and in their home. I take all the time they need to explore their cremation services options, and never push them in unwanted directions. After all, they are allowing me to serve them in what–for many–are their darkest hours; I would never overstep my role as ally and guide."
